SCOTUS Reverses Sotomayor’s Decision to Send All White People to Gitmo
- Your Republican Party of Virginia is not mad at Gov. Tim Kaine, but they are very “disappointed.” Kaine’s new job as chairman of the DNC requires him to travel out of state for various political functions, like top-secret Applachian Trail hikes, which the GOP does not approve of. (Washington Post)
- The Supreme Court ruled today that white New Haven firefighters had been discriminated against when a promotion test was thrown out by the city. This ruling reverses an earlier decision by Sonia Sotomayor, which she had based entirely on her double-secret racism. Who’s the “wise Latina” now, hmm? (Alito??) (MSNBC)
- Oh and speaking of the Supreme Court, retiring Justice David Souter bid farewell to his fellow justices today, saying that they had “touched me far more than I can say.” Ewww, Scalia, that is gross. (CNN)
- This Mark Sanford guy, who is governor of South Carolina, is going back to work today. This is newsworthy, for some reason, but since coverage of Michael Jackson’s death has blotted out all of last week’s news from America’s memory, we have no idea why. (CNN, also)
