Quote of the Day

We can’t kill all the Muslims. So we want to win the hearts and minds of as many good, moderate Muslims as we can.

Bill O’Reilly, on the aftermath of the Fort Hood shootings.

Free Speech Only Applies to Right-Wingers (Because They Put Those Yellow Ribbon Magnets on Their Cars)

The only true form of patriotism...

  • Teabaggers are now threatening violence against the SEIU and other pro-healthcare reform groups for daring to show up at town halls. Let freedom ring! (The Plum Line)
  • Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) is introducing legislation to give tax credits to pay for pet care. Healthcare for humans? Not so much. (Michigan Messenger)
  • A GOP town hall turns ugly when Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) dares take the name of Glenn Beck in vain. It was only a matter of time before Republicans got a little taste of their own medicine. (Think Progress)
  • Bill O’Reilly secretly wants to make out with Barack Obama, but it’s okay because the real wingnuts have all switched over to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh already. (Mediaite via Wonkette)

Quote of the Day

I want to see Mr. Peters and Mr. O’Reilly fired immediately for their inexcusable attacks on a prisoner of war. Their comments aid and abet our enemies during a time of war and the burden is on Fox News to prove that they reject this by taking the tangible action of issuing an apology and firing both of them.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), responding to FOX News pundit Ralph Peters’ suggestion that the Taliban should kill captured Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, which he repeated on O’Reilly’s show.

All the News That’s Fit to Steal

FOX News with a funny accent.

  • The British House of Commons and the Met are investigating News of the World, which is owned by FOX News chief Rupert Murdoch, for hacking MPs mobile phones. This is the British equivalent of Bill O’Reilly sending someone to harass people while they’re walking down the street. (Guardian/New Yorker)
  • CIA Director Leon Panetta told Congress last month that some senior CIA officials had straight-up lied to Congress. Since lying is basically what the CIA does professionally, shouldn’t these officials get promoted, for job excellence? (MSNBC)
  • Here is a new criticism of Sonia Sotomayor: she is too detailed. Apparently it is better for the justice system if judges just breeze through shit, so they can get back to working on their golf game. (Washington Post)
  • The Mexican Army is accused of using torture in the War on Drugs. Um, maybe they did it because the cool kids (America) were doing it? (UPI)
  • The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is suing the federal government over the Defense of Marriage Act, which they claim in unconstitutional. When will John Ensign and Mark Sanford step in to defend traditional marriage? (Boston Globe)
