- Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) thinks Carrie Prejean should be a politician on the “I regret making that sex tape” platform. Prejean/Levi Johnston’s Dong 2012! (TMZ)
- You don’t need to know what Congressional district you’re in to request stimulus funds, according to stimulus-related gossip blog Recovery.gov. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
- DNC Chair and outgoing Va. Gov. Tim Kaine analyzes the election to replace him and concludes that maybe the Creigh Deeds campaign shouldn’t have sucked so much. (WaPo)
- Wingnut Doug Hoffman has “unconceded” the NY-23 election because Glenn Beck demands it! Except Bill Owens has already been a Congressman for a few days and Hoffman is still a loser. (The Hill)
- Hey, your House of Representatives and Senate has this crazy idea of waiting for all the evidence before holding hearings on Fort Hood. (Washington Independent)

Not a good sign
…when the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor starts running against the Democratic candidate for Governor.
In Jody Wagner’s defense, offering to opt-out of a federal public healthcare option was a moronic thing for Creigh Deeds to say, especially considering that Virginia Republicans are already more energized than Democrats.
It Worked Last Time
Some people suspect that the Washington Post’s endorsement of Creigh Deeds in last June’s Democratic Primary gave him the edge of Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran. I know that, at least where I live, hundreds of “The Washington Post endorses DEEDS” signs went up between the day the Post’s editorial appeared and primary day. And, despite a huge initial deficit in the polls, Creigh pulled off a landslide victory.
Well, the Post has endorsed Creigh Deeds again, noting that only Creigh has put forward sensible, workable plans for fixing Virginia’s transportation budget deficit and maintaining the Warner-Kaine fiscal policies that have successfully guided the commonwealth through tough economic turmoil whereas Bob McDonnell would eliminate state services and return Virginia to the same disastrous state that Jim Gilmore left us in eight years ago.
The most recent polls put Creigh seven points behind Bob McDonnell–a big difference, but not an insurmountable one. Will the Washington Post’s endorsement give Creigh a big enough push to finish on top? It worked last time.
Just Who Does This Obama Guy Think He Is, the President?

- President Obama called Cambridge PD Sgt. James Crowley to invite him down to the White House for a couple beers, and then Crowley will arrest him for disorderly conduct. (MSNBC First Read)
- Isn’t it weird how this whole “birther” thing never came up during the presidential race? Oh wait, that’s be cause the McCain Campaign investigated the rumors but found no evidence that Obama was not an American citizen. (Washington Independent)
- Whaaat, the Twitter is blocked in the White House? Why does the Obama administration hate those Iranian protestors (who we all stopped caring about weeks ago) so much? (Think Progress)
- Oh, here is some more stimulus spending for you. This time it’s for “education,” another one of Nobama’s socialist plots. (CNN Political Ticker)
- Your highly respected Washington Post reports that President Obama will attend “some kind of public function” in August in support of Creigh Deeds, the Democratic candidate for Virginia governor. Journalism! (WaPo Virginia Politics)

Why are Sarah Palin’s children off-limits but Creigh Deeds’ son isn’t?

Deeds for Virginia Widget
If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve added a Deeds for Virginia wedget to the left-hand sidebar (between the RSS feed link and the monthly archive links) so you can keep with the news from Creigh Deeds, winner of the recent Democratic primary and the next Governor of Virginia. Creigh Deeds has years of experience serving Virginians as a county prosecutor and State Senator, and he is by far the best candidate for the extremely difficult job of Governor. If you vote in Virginia, I hope you’ll help volunteer or donate to Creigh now and support him in November!

Deeds Wins VA Primary
By this time today this is fairly old news, but I was out most of last night so I’m going to post it anyway!
State Sen. Creigh Deeds won the Virginia Democratic primary for governor in a landslide. Congratulations to Sen. Deeds, the next Governor of Virginia!
Sunday Update
- It’s one thing for the senior Senator from Pennsylvania facing a tough reelection battle to get up at a fancy dinner and tell Polish jokes, but it’s a whole other thing for the same Senator to ask if anyone in the room is Polish and then tell Polish jokes. Nice job, Arlen Specter. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
- Senate Republicans have no problem letting the Big 3 collapse if it allows them to take a swipe at unions for supporting Democrats. Nice way to rebuild the party. (Los Angeles Times)
- Welcome to Virginia, where every year is an election year! In 2009, we’ve got the big race for governor, and it’s gonna be a close one. All three Democratic candidates–Brian Moran, Creigh Deeds, and Terry McAuliffe–poll within five points of Republican Bob McDonnell. (Rasmussen Reports)
- Apparently we should not be surprised by Rod Blagojevich because it is just assumed that Illinois politicians are corrupt. Or, as Jon Stewart points out, you have a better chance of going to jail by being the Governor of Illinois than you do if you kill someone. (New York Times/The Daily Show)
