Distinguished Southern Gentleman Hopes President Remembers His Place

The Lincoln-Who Debates?

You know, in Fox & Friends’ defense, the names Douglas and Douglass look pretty similar on paper.

Yes, that was a portrait of black abolitionist writer Frederick Douglass up there next to Abe Lincoln. Stephen A. Douglas–the guy that Lincoln famously debated–was a politician and, needless to say in the 1850s, white. I’m sure Fox can just blame the mix up on whichever intern was stupid enough to be conned into looking for video clips of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. Of course, this begs the better question of where the heck are they getting their interns?

Halloween: Hannity Knows Best

Over at FOX News, if you even think the words “Happy Holidays” during the Christmas season (i.e. June to December), you’ve just declared war. You see, the fine folks at FOX just won’t tolerate anyone who dares to express a view other than their own. When it comes to Christmas, you’re either with it or against it.

But FOX doesn’t come to the passionate defense of every threatened holiday. On the contrary, they only defend the holidays that need defending, and they know where to draw the line between good Christian holidays and evil Satanist holidays. Why, just this morning FOX’s Sean Hannity declared war on Halloween:

HANNITY: By the way, Halloween is a liberal holiday, because we’re teaching our children –

COLMES: Oh, come on. Please.

HANNITY: – to beg for something for free.

HANNITY: But I’ll tell you why. Because we’re teaching kids to knock on other people’s doors and ask for a handout. That’s how we turn –

COLMES: Is Christmas a liberal holiday, then? When people give things away?

HANNITY: No, but you offer gifts. You give on Christmas. I give gifts on Christmas?

HANNITY: You’re teaching your kids to beg for a handout.

Way to go, Sean, you tell it like it is! Halloween is just an extension of the Democrat welfare state. If we let our kids go trick or treating on All Hallows’ Eve, we’re just pushing them down the slippery slope to government handouts and socialism. Good catch, FOX!

Fortunately for us, FOX isn’t the only serious media outlet that’s caught on to the dangers of Halloween:

Halloween Cartoon from the Onion

Come on, parents, take a close listen to Sean Hannity and do the smart thing: take your kids’ candy, burn their costumes, and never let them out of the house on another October 31st ever again.
