Let me guess: John “Hundred Years” McCain disagrees on Afghanistan with the guy who kicked his ass in the last election. What a waste of television time.

Does anyone remember all of the interviews with Al Gore in early 2001 about all the things George W. Bush was doing wrong? Or with John Kerry in early 2005? Seriously, a majority of American voters decided that they did not wants John McCain’s policies on Afghanistan or anything else for that matter, so why does anyone even care what he thinks?

  • Just now! Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) will vote for debating on the Democratic healthcare bill. (Twitter!)
  • A thousand wingnuts were waiting in the cold all day for Sarah Palin to sign their books, but then Palin “went rogue” and left without signing all of their books, so now they will not vote for her. (RumpRoast
  • In case you did’t figure it out during that whole presidential campaign, “maverick” just means John McCain changes his positions whenever it’s politically convenient. (The Plank)
  • Much like her father, Liz Cheney is a liar, in this case, when it comes to her fake documentary about moving Gitmo prisoners to a small town in Michigan. (The Plum Line)
  • Tea Party: The Movie. Seriously. Make sure not to have any food or liquids in your mouth when you watch the trailer. (Tea Party Movie)

Good-Faith Negotiations

  • Bipartisan healthcare negotiator Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) will not support the result of the bipartisan healthcare negotiations, not that this should really surprise anyone. (The Plum Line)
  • Disgraced former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was all excited about a DOJ investigation into whether the CIA abused prisoners but now he’s not, probably thanks to a call from Dick Cheney or something. (Washington Times)
  • Something like this was bound to happen eventually. Biting people’s fingers off is just the logical next step in the healthcare debate. (KTLA)
  • You know what is exactly like that time John McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese? Cindy McCain’s migraines. They’re terrible! (People)
  • Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), America’s Crankiest Senator, just does not care for Barack Obama, the SocialistPeacenikMuslimHippy President who also believes that global warming is true! (Tulsa World)

Quote of the Day

I am of the belief that unless we reverse the trend of Hispanic voter registration, we [the GOP] have a very, very deep hole that we’ve got to come out of.

–Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who announced today that he will vote against Sonia Sotomayor, on how the GOP should do more to court Hispanic voters.

Lucky for Us, the GOP Doesn’t Realize that Women Don’t Automatically Vote for Other Women

  • After months of speculation on the “librul internets” that the McCain campaign only picked national ignoramus Sarah Palin for her lady-parts, ex-McCain staffers confirm that they only picked her for her lady-parts. (WaPo via Ben Smith)
  • Rep. Joseph Cao (R-LA) wants to make sure that the stimulus money that he voted against because it is horrible, evil socialism gets to his district. (New Orleans Times-Picayune)
  • The owners of Nevada’s “BunnyRanch” brothel are inviting members of Congress to use their legal services so they don’t have to face the embarassment of all of their illegal affairs. (The Hill)
  • The Catholic Church definitely does not want you taking birth control pills, but they have no problem profiting off of it if you do. (BBC)
  • According to Rep. Pete King (R-NY), getting healthcare is not that important to most Americans, who have bigger things to worry about while they’re standing in the breadline. (The Plum Line)
  • Juan Williams, FOX News’ token colored news person, does not care for Glenn Beck calling President Obama a racist. Why is Williams so “reverse racist” against poor, helpless white man Glenn Beck? (Newshounds)

Deep Thought

Remember when CNN did in-depth, highly publicized interviews with Al Gore and John Kerry a few months into George W. Bush’s first a second terms? Me neither.

If You Play Nice, Maybe You Can Have Healthcare

  • Your RNC is just not comfortable with handing over the company credit card to Michael Steele to spend on his “hip hop,” or whatever it is the kids are saying doing days. (The Hill/Washington Times)
  • If healthcare reformers don’t stop saying mean things about healthcare reform blocker Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), then he will pull this car over right now! and nobody will get healthcare. (TPMDC)
  • Here are some lovely photos of that time someone at the Pentagon thought it would be a good idea to fly Air Force One straight over the Manhattan skyline. (NYT The Caucus)
  • President McCain just does not care for this Obama upstart and his “change” that he keeps talking about. (CNN Political Ticker)

Just Who Does This Obama Guy Think He Is, the President?

Oh, so we're getting taxpayer-funded portraits now, are we?

  • President Obama called Cambridge PD Sgt. James Crowley to invite him down to the White House for a couple beers, and then Crowley will arrest him for disorderly conduct. (MSNBC First Read)
  • Isn’t it weird how this whole “birther” thing never came up during the presidential race? Oh wait, that’s be cause the McCain Campaign investigated the rumors but found no evidence that Obama was not an American citizen. (Washington Independent)
  • Whaaat, the Twitter is blocked in the White House? Why does the Obama administration hate those Iranian protestors (who we all stopped caring about weeks ago) so much? (Think Progress)
  • Oh, here is some more stimulus spending for you. This time it’s for “education,” another one of Nobama’s socialist plots. (CNN Political Ticker)
  • Your highly respected Washington Post reports that President Obama will attend “some kind of public function” in August in support of Creigh Deeds, the Democratic candidate for Virginia governor. Journalism! (WaPo Virginia Politics)
