Mini Hiatus

So there won’t be too much blogging for the next couple weeks or so while I go into hibernation for finals. Maybe those clowns in the Senate will pass healthcare while I’m gone. Haha. But probably not.

Anyway, while I’m away, this:

Site Redesign

The template is dead! Long live the template!

In case you can’t tell (try hitting ctrl+F5 if you can’t), I’ve completely overhauled crazydrumguy.com with a new theme that is harder, better, faster, and stronger! Huzzah!

For those of you playing along at home, this is probably what killed the site last night, but never fear! I’ve undone the configuration mistake and everything should be back to normal. Of course, as with any new project there are bound to be some kinks. If you do see something that’s not right (like, for example, if you’re still seeing the old theme on some pages), leave a comment or shoot me an email and I’ll get right on it.

New features included, more awesome searching, better integration with photos and projects (formerly tools, please update your bookmarks accordingly!), and gravatars on comments! Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg, but I’ll leave it to y’all to poke around and find the new features. Try to break anything!

And We’re Back!

Sorry for last night’s unexpected downtime! I was playing with some plugin settings and made a teensy weensy coding mistake that basically destroyed now. Anyway, we’re more or less back now, except for the Photos section which is gone for the time being.

Thanks to the Happy DreamHost Customer Support Team for their help!

20,000

The number of spam comments I’ve deleted since I started this blog.

Damn.

Day Off

Your CrazyDrumGuy was on the Hill all day and away from the computer, so no blogging today! I think I’m entitled to a day off, hm?

WordPress 2.8

Great success! (…I think)

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start

Well, in the past couple hours since I started paying attention here again (in between watching the Nats suffer yet another painful defeat), I’ve done a couple cool things. Like check out the logos on the video in this post (although I’d advise against actually hitting play on the video if you’re eating or drinking). Cool, right? Also fixed a few bugs in image display and some other things that were bothering me. And, of course, added the Twitter widget to the sidebar on the left.  The Twitter stole my Facebook status, somehow. Gotta figure out what I did to make the one update the other…

Also, for any nerds out there, try entering the Konami Code (in the title, click the mouse for Start) on either Facebook or Google Reader. Fun times!

Milestones

Today I deleted the 10,000th spam comment on this blog.
(They get filtered out so you lucky duckies never have to see them.)

Iggles

If the version of Donovan McNabb who played in the third quarter had been around in the first, second, and fourth, the Eagles would be on their way to the Super Bowl right now. Yes, I did spend Sunday night in the United Kingdom watching American football. What’s up?

Also, I’m working on a way to put London pictures up that isn’t as big of a pain in the ass as they way I used to be doing photos. So you might not want to click over to the photos section for the next couple days as it is all currently turned to shit while I figure out a way to get everything working again.

No more /blog in URLs!

Thanks to some internet voodoo magic, you no longer need to include /blog in any blog post URLs. So instead of crazydrumguy.com/blog/2008 for last year’s annual archive, you can just go to crazydrumguy.com/2008. Of course, the old style URLs will still work. Now that’s change we can believe in!
