Only Republicans Can Accomplish Things
That’s basically the message I just got from Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) on NPR. Asked what Democrats plan to do to end the Republican-caused gridlock in the Senate, Carper answered that there’s nothing we can do but wait for a Republican-controlled Congress and a Republican president in the White House, at which point Republicans will ensure that they get an up-or-down vote on their legislation. Ugh. Not what I’d expect to hear from a party that plans on being in power for any while longer.
Update: I’ll put up a transcript once I can find one. No transcript, but you can listen to the broadcast here.
