Valentine’s Day Is Dead

  • Once upon a time, February 14 was Valentine’s Day. But then the recession killed it because we are all out of money. The end! (New York Times)
  • Back before he officially became Illinois’ newest senator, Roland Burris said no one asked him for money in exchange for the seat. Turns out he “omitted” that time when Blago’s brother asked him to help raise funds for Blago’s campaign. Whoops! (Chicago Tribune)
  • Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, a Republican who runs the third most conservative state, announced that he supports civil unions for gay couples in a state where 70 percent oppose them! And this is the state that basically funded the enire Prop 8 campaign! (The Atlantic)
  • So you’re sitting on your couch tomorrow watching the NBA All-Stars Game and all of the sudden Barack Obama is on your television telling you to get off the couch and go help people. This will happen tomorrow. (CNN)
