Sarah Who?

CNBC definitively says Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be John McCain’s running mate.

A Gulfstream IV from Anchorage, Alaska, flew into Middletown Regional Airport in Butler County near Cincinnati about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, said Rich Bevis, airport manager.

Sounds to some people like McCain is making a play for the sixty-or-so PUMA idiots that are still running around because, when push comes to shove, they really don’t care what Hillary Clinton actually has to say. Of course, Palin is so anti-choice that intelligent people won’t have any trouble figuring out that she’s actually the exact opposite of Hillary.

Update: On the other hand, ABC definitively says it’s not Palin. Someone’s going to have egg on their face tonight.

Update 2: Well, not the best day for ABC News. Fortunately for us, they aren’t in charge of investigating Palin for corruption.

Please Pick Rudy

With the selection of Joe Biden has Obama’s running mate confirmed, I’m begging John McCain to pick Rudy Giuliani as his running mate. Why? Because the Vice Presidential Debate is at my school in October and I would love to see and hour of this:

Biden

While I actually like Joe Biden, part of me hopes that he isn’t Obama’s choice for VP if only because CNN, ABC, the AP/MSNBC, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Politico would all come out looking like the fracking morons that they are.

The plus side to all this veep-speculation-craziness is that Team Obama scores an epic win in the controlling-the-media-department.

Update: John on Joe:

The pick is probably gonna be Biden according to the media, who I rate as the person most likely of all the VP possibles to call Mitt Romney an asshole. Others are hoping for a casual “m____ f_____.” Either way, I call that a win.

The Next Cheney

Wondering who John McCain will pick as his running mate? Take a look at the fine folks who could be The Next Cheney:

Webb Is Out of the Veepstakes

Jim Webb joins fellow Virginian Mark Warner in announcing that he will not seek the vice presidential nod:

“Last week I communicated to Senator Obama and his presidential campaign my firm intention to remain in the United States Senate, where I believe I am best equipped to serve the people of Virginia and this country. Under no circumstances will I be a candidate for Vice President.

“A year and a half ago, the people of Virginia honored me with election to the U.S. Senate. I entered elective politics because of my commitment to strengthen America’s national security posture, to promote economic fairness, and to increase government accountability. I have worked hard to deliver upon that commitment, and I am convinced that my efforts and talents toward those ends are best served in the Senate.

“In this regard, the bipartisan legislative template we were able to put into effect through 18 months of work in order to enact the new, landmark GI Bill will serve as a prototype for my future endeavors in government. This process, wherein we brought 58 Senators from both parties to the table as co-sponsors, along with more than 300 members of the House, gives me renewed confidence that the Congress can indeed work effectively across party lines and address the concerns of our citizens.

“At this time I am also renewing my commitment to work hard to make sure that Senator Obama wins both Virginia and the presidency this November. He is a man who speaks eloquently about our national goals and calls for the practical solutions that must be put into place to obtain them. I will proudly campaign for him.”

I’m happy to see Jim Webb staying in the Senate where he has done a pretty good job so far. Frankly, I never really bought into all the Webbmaina (Webbmentum?). Sure, he has some good foreign policy experience and he’s certainly no ultra-liberal hippie, but in an election where the opponent’s best card is his experience, I don’t see two first-term Senators on the ticket as a wise choice.

Why Hillary Cannot Be the VP

Because she’s already working for the RNC.
